A Danish citizen is speaking out after another fatal crash occurred at the same intersection. This marks the third deadly accident there within one year.
Cecilie Boel Trillingsgaard lives in Bækmarksbro in western Denmark. She drives daily past the spot where a 62-year-old woman died in a traffic accident last Friday.
'I became really frustrated when I heard it happened again. It's terrible,' Trillingsgaard said. 'You could just as easily have been hit yourself.'
The recent crash occurred on Ringkøbingvej north of Bækmarksbro. This is not the first time this intersection has seen fatal accidents. In December last year, two deadly crashes happened within two days. An 83-year-old man and a 32-year-old man lost their lives in separate incidents at the same location.
'It's practically a nightmare,' Trillingsgaard added. 'If they don't soon make some changes at this intersection, I believe accidents will keep happening.'
The technical and environment committee in Lemvig Municipality handles roads and traffic lights. Committee chairman Steffen Damsgaard called the situation 'deeply tragic.'
'It naturally affects us when these kinds of accidents happen in our municipality,' Damsgaard said in a statement.
Local police have previously assessed that the accidents were not caused by road conditions at the intersection. Authorities are now awaiting the vehicle inspector's report before commenting further on Friday's crash.
Despite official assessments, the pattern of repeated tragedies at one location raises questions about whether current safety measures are adequate. Three deaths in one year at a single intersection suggests something needs examination beyond standard procedures.
