Emergency services responded to a fire in an apartment block at Rødtvet in Oslo on Saturday evening. The fire broke out on the fifth floor, and thick smoke quickly filled the stairwell, according to police operations leader Per-Ivar Iversen in the official log. Several residents evacuated themselves before help arrived. Firefighters entered the building using breathing apparatus to manage the heavy smoke conditions. Authorities confirmed the flames were extinguished shortly after their arrival, but smoke lingered in the stairwell and some apartments. Three people were treated at the scene by ambulance crews after inhaling smoke. The source of the fire was a stroller that had been left lit in a shared hallway or stairwell area. Crews are now checking all apartments on the fifth, sixth, and seventh floors to ensure no one is affected and to assess smoke damage. Police first reported the incident at 10:52 p.m. Rødtvet is a residential neighborhood located in the Grorud borough of Oslo. Residents were urged to share any relevant information, photos, or video with investigators. The fire department conducted thorough checks of multiple floors due to concerns about residual smoke and resident safety. All actions taken by emergency personnel focused on immediate life safety and containment of smoke spread within the building structure.
