A night that had been otherwise quiet for North Jutland Police was interrupted early Sunday morning by a violent incident that occurred shortly after 4 a.m. on Ved Stranden in Aalborg. During the episode, a 53-year-old man was physically assaulted with punches and kicks by an attacker who then left the scene. Several witnesses observed the assault and provided police with a detailed physical description of the suspect. This information played a key role in the initial stages of the investigation. Authorities also reviewed footage from local security cameras covering the area. According to Lau Larsen, duty officer at North Jutland Police, investigators were able to locate video of the incident and used it to identify the alleged perpetrator. "We were able to find the incident on our surveillance cameras and trace the suspect through that footage," Larsen stated. Based on the combined evidence from eyewitnesses and camera recordings, police located and arrested a 36-year-old man at a private residence not long after the attack. The victim did not suffer serious injuries but was transported to the emergency room for medical evaluation as a precautionary measure. The 36-year-old suspect has been formally charged in relation to the assault and is scheduled to be questioned by authorities. Following the interrogation, he is expected to be released. At this time, police have not established a motive for the violent encounter.
