Armed police arrested a person in Andøy municipality in Vesterålen after a violent incident on Wednesday evening. One person was lightly injured, according to Aftenposten.
Police received the report of the incident at a residence in the municipality at 21:15 on Wednesday. One person was taken into the care of health personnel. Police then searched for a presumed perpetrator, and Kai Henrik Eriksen of Nordland police district said no one else was involved.
At 2:21 a.m., police located the person inside the house and worked to make contact. Officers were on the scene with large resources, drones and armed crew.
Operations leader Ina Kristin Selfors of Nordland police district told VG there was no danger to others in the area. Neighbours did not need to be evacuated, but the road by the house was closed while police worked at the site, which lies close to the road. Tipsters contacted VG during the night about a bang from the residence, and police said it was not connected to the operation.
"No shots were fired in connection with the site," Selfors said.
Police reported at 3:38 a.m. on Thursday that the person was arrested without drama. "A crime scene investigation will now be carried out at the site. The perpetrator will be interrogated at a later time," Selfors said.
