Skattestyrelsen will open the preliminary tax assessment for 2027 on Tuesday, 24 November, giving around 5.5 million citizens access to their expected income and tax figures, the agency said in a press release, according to Ekstra Bladet, Politiken and Berlingske.
Citizens can check whether their expected income and tax for 2027 match reality and correct the details to avoid a back-tax bill later. Deputy Director Ulrick Junge said people should pay particular attention if they have changed jobs, received a different salary or seen changes to their interest payments.
"The preliminary tax assessment is the overview of your finances for next year, and it's here that you can make sure you use your deductions and pay the right tax," Junge said in the statement.
The opening has been postponed by two weeks. In November, the Folketing is expected to consider a number of bills containing changed deductions, including changes to deductions for exercise and music lessons, a higher employment deduction for seniors, and an increase in the standard deduction for childminders.
"We know many citizens are looking forward to the changed deductions. That's why we have chosen to postpone the opening of the preliminary tax assessment by a few weeks so we can incorporate the deductions," Junge said.
The assessment is based on information from previous years. Last year, around 800,000 citizens had to pay back an average of 9,850 kroner in residual tax, a total of 7.9 billion kroner. Skattestyrelsen said it will provide further information on the expected changes when the assessment opens in November.
