Signe Munk is leaving the Danish government after being signed off sick with stress. Berlingske reported that the Ministry of State announced in a press release that the minister for cities, rural areas and transport is stepping down, according to TV 2 and altinget.dk.
Munk wrote in a post on Facebook that she has become ill from stress. "Even though it's hard, it's the right decision to stop as minister and hand the task to another skilled politician," she wrote. "Right now I need calm to find balance and get completely well. She also said work and family must fit together. "We are whole people, and I have had a hard time finding that balance recently.
Munk added that she is now on sick leave from the Folketing and that the move is not a permanent farewell to politics but "a step towards finding a better balance in life."
Her party colleague Karina Lorentzen Dehnhardt will be appointed to the post of minister for cities, rural areas and transport. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen will present the new minister to King Frederik at 14.45.
After that, there will be a short doorstep on Amalienborg Palace Square, where Karina Lorentzen Dehnhardt will answer questions from the press.
