A 33-year-old man with Pakistani citizenship has been sentenced to eight months in prison and expelled from Denmark with a six-year ban on re-entry for selling narcotics.

Police stopped the man in Herlev in mid-September. Officers found cocaine and ketamine in his car. A search of his home afterwards turned up a larger sum of cash that allegedly came from drug dealing.

He has been held in custody since his arrest, and the verdict came a little over a month later. "The authorities take drug sales very seriously, and that is why the man has been expelled from Denmark, even though he was born and raised here," said special prosecutor Peter Rask.

The 33-year-old has appealed the verdict to the high court.
