Police in Central and West Jutland have arrested a 38-year-old man suspected in a fatal weekend traffic accident. The collision occurred on Nordskovvej road near Silkeborg and claimed the life of a 44-year-old man.

Officers responded to the scene around 6 AM Saturday morning. A passerby had discovered the deceased victim lying beside the road.

Authorities believe the 44-year-old was struck by a vehicle driven by the suspect. The driver then allegedly fled the accident location.

Michael Svendsen from local police confirmed the charges. The 38-year-old faces counts of negligent manslaughter and failure to assist a person in helpless condition.

Police released the suspect after completing their initial questioning. Officials declined to comment on how the man responded to the allegations against him.

During their investigation, police had sought both the vehicle and two individuals connected to the incident. The arrest represents progress in a case that left local residents concerned about road safety.

Hit-and-run incidents remain relatively rare in Denmark compared to other European countries. The country typically maintains strong road safety records, making this case particularly notable for the region.
