Emergency services received the fire alert at 11:22 on Friday morning. The blaze consumed a hay storage building on a property outside Karlskrona in southern Sweden. No animals or people were injured in the incident.
A rescue service operator confirmed the situation around noon. "It's a barn that's burning, but there are no animals or personal injuries," officials said in a statement. "We currently have no information about any risk of the fire spreading."
Multiple rescue units left the scene shortly afterward when the spread risk was eliminated. The hay storage building burned completely to the ground. Some smoldering occurred in one wall of the adjacent riding arena.
Rescue services estimated they would remain on site for several hours to fully extinguish the embers. The property appears to be part of an equestrian facility given the presence of the riding arena.
While Sweden has strict fire safety regulations, agricultural buildings containing dry hay can pose particular fire risks during dry periods. The quick response prevented damage to the nearby riding facility.
