A 34-year-old man died from knife wounds in Herning, Denmark. Police have charged a 54-year-old man with murder.
Officers received a report around 12:52 AM Tuesday about two men stabbed at a residence on Gormsvej street. The 54-year-old resident was arrested when police arrived.
The 34-year-old victim died at the scene. A 29-year-old man suffered serious injuries but is now out of danger.
Both the 54-year-old suspect and the 29-year-old victim will appear in constitutional hearings at Herning Court on Tuesday. The younger man will participate from his hospital bed.
Police confirmed several other people were present during the incident. All were detained as investigators determine their involvement.
Chief Inspector Theis Tylstrup said the stabbing appears connected to Herning's drug scene. He noted the suspect and victims knew each other beforehand.
This marks the second fatal stabbing on Gormsvej this year. In April, a 21-year-old Somali woman was killed on the same street. Police arrested a 16-year-old boy in that case in June.
Authorities stress the two homicides are unrelated despite occurring on the same street months apart.
Police seek information from anyone who witnessed suspicious activity near Gormsvej late Monday night. They particularly want dashcam footage from residents of Gormsvej, Thyravej and Knudsvej streets.
The repeated violence on Gormsvej highlights ongoing challenges in some Danish residential areas. Local authorities face persistent difficulties addressing drug-related conflicts that sometimes turn deadly.
