A man received an immediate three-year prison sentence after officers found drugs on him and in his home. Police stopped the 43-year-old man Saturday evening due to suspicious behavior. Officers spotted him riding a bicycle close to the police station in Silkeborg, a city in central Denmark. Police assessed that he appeared to be under the influence of drugs, according to the duty officer at Midt- and Vestjyllands Police. The stop occurred on Lillehøjvej road around 9 PM. Officers searched his pockets and found a small quantity of hash and amphetamines. This discovery led police to suspect there might be more evidence to uncover. The find in the man's pockets prompted officers to search his home, where they discovered 1.6 kilograms of amphetamines. On Sunday, this resulted in an immediate three-year prison sentence for Thomas Hansen for drug possession. According to the prosecutor in the case, he admitted to everything and remains in police custody until he can serve his sentence.
This case illustrates how even minor drug offenses can quickly escalate into major legal consequences. The proximity to the police station made this an unusually bold offense that was bound to attract attention.
