Marianne Gjertsen Ebbesen has been named the new CEO of OBOS, Norway's largest housing development association. She will take over from Daniel Kjørberg Siraj on December 1.
Siraj announced his departure in September after ten years as chief executive. His resignation followed a decade leading the cooperative housing organization.
Ebbesen brings nearly seven years of OBOS experience to the role. She most recently served as Corporate Director for Housing Development Wooden Houses in Norway and Sweden.
Before joining OBOS, Ebbesen held senior leadership positions at two major Nordic banks. She worked in top roles at both DNB and Nordea, according to the organization's announcement.
This leadership change comes as OBOS faces challenges in Norway's cooling housing market. The transition occurs during a period of economic uncertainty for construction and real estate sectors.
What does this mean for OBOS members? The new CEO's banking background suggests a focus on financial stability during market fluctuations. Her housing development experience positions her to navigate current construction challenges.
