Police Search for Missing 63-Year-Old Man in Eastern Finland

Authorities in North Karelia continue searching for a 63-year-old man last seen in mid-October. The man traveled to Ilomantsi, a municipality in eastern Finland near the Russian border, on October 2. His last confirmed sighting dates from October 12.

Police confirm the man has not left the Ilomantsi area. He stands approximately 180 centimeters tall and has a slim build. In early October, he wore a denim jacket, gray hoodie, and jeans. He carried a red and white bag.

Officials request public assistance locating the missing person in Finland. Anyone with information should email tips to vihjeet.ita-suomi@poliisi.fi or call 0295 415 232.

The extended disappearance in this rural region raises concerns as winter approaches. Dense forests and limited daylight hours complicate search efforts in Finland's eastern borderlands.
