Rambøll is cutting 400 jobs at management level, the Danish engineering consultancy announced in a press release on Tuesday afternoon, according to DR, Ekstra Bladet and Berlingske.

The layoffs are expected to be completed by the end of November, according to Ritzau. There will also be a number of voluntary departures, though Rambøll did not want to say how many. Most of the 400 redundancies are among employees in Denmark, the company said, without giving an exact number.

CEO Christian Jensby said the round follows growth that has left the organisation more complex. "In many areas, the organisation has become difficult to navigate, decisions take too long, and areas of responsibility are not sufficiently clear," he said in the statement.

"We are now taking steps to reduce complexity, improve cooperation and promote faster decision-making by removing some of the unnecessary tasks and internal coordination processes across the company," Jensby said. He added that he is convinced the decision is the right one for Rambøll. "Our employees and managers deserve a well-functioning organisation that gives us the best conditions to succeed," he said.

Rambøll has around 18,000 employees worldwide, of whom 4,000 are in Denmark. Jensby was appointed to the top role in early 2026 and officially took up the position on 1 May, coming from an equivalent post at Deloitte Danmark.

The company said it will continue to look at how it can streamline the organisation further. That could affect employees below management level. Rambøll was founded in 1954 and today advises on construction, transport, environment, energy and management.

It is primarily owned by Rambøll Fonden, which holds 98 percent of the shares, while employees own the last two percent.
