A van exploded in front of Hotel Joronjälki in Joroinen, Finland on Saturday afternoon. The blast shattered hotel windows and damaged nearby vehicles.
Entrepreneur Auvo Puurtinen confirmed the incident in a phone statement. He reported extensive damage but said repairs would be completed by Sunday.
"Car bumpers are scattered across the yards," Puurtinen described the scene.
Police confirmed the fire spread to the hotel's entrance canopy. The main hotel building did not catch fire.
Authorities have no precise information about potential injuries at this time. The investigation remains in early stages.
Police are conducting an on-site fire cause investigation and will provide updates later. North Savo Rescue Department received the alarm at 12:20 PM for a medium-sized building fire on Motellikuja street.
This explosion at a rural Finnish hotel highlights the unexpected dangers that can occur even in quiet Nordic communities. The quick response from local emergency services prevented what could have been a much more serious incident.
