Police in Espoo are investigating an armed robbery at a kiosk in the Kuitinmäki neighborhood. The incident occurred on Monday morning at a convenience store on Kuunkehrä Street.
A suspect threatened an employee with what appeared to be a weapon. Several customers were inside the kiosk during the robbery, but no one suffered physical injuries.
The robber escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police received the alert just before 10:00 AM.
Officers arrived quickly but the suspect had already fled the scene. Witnesses reported seeing the person heading toward Kuutamokatu street.
Authorities conducted an immediate search of the area but haven't made any arrests yet.
The suspect wore all black clothing with a fur hat and sunglasses. They also had red and white shoes and carried a black bag.
Police are now asking for public assistance in their investigation into the Espoo kiosk robbery. Anyone with information can contact the tip line at 0295 438 488 or email vihjeet.lansi-uusimaa@poliisi.fi.
Armed robberies remain relatively uncommon in Finland, particularly in suburban areas like Espoo. This daylight incident in a neighborhood kiosk where customers were present suggests growing boldness among criminals.
