Police in Western Uusimaa are asking for witnesses to a pharmacy robbery in Kauniainen on Monday morning. The incident occurred just after 10 AM at a pharmacy on Kaunaistentie road.
The suspected robber threatened staff with what appeared to be a bomb in a bag. He managed to steal medications before fleeing the scene.
Several customers were inside the pharmacy during the robbery. No one was injured in the incident, according to police officials.
The pharmacy temporarily closed while forensic investigators processed the crime scene.
Police describe the suspect as slim-built wearing gray pants, a yellow-and-black jacket, and a hood with black and gray coloring. He carried plastic bags during the robbery.
This robbery follows another suspected theft in Espoo's Kuitinmäki area on Sunday. Police do not believe the two incidents are connected despite their close timing.
Witnesses can contact police by phone at 0295 438 488 or email vihjeet.lansi-uusimaa@poliisi.fi.
This bold daylight robbery in a typically quiet suburban area highlights concerning criminal tactics emerging in the Helsinki region. The use of bomb threats during pharmacy robberies represents an escalation from typical theft methods.
