A bus lost a wheel on the E18 highway between Lillesand and Grimstad during evening hours. The incident occurred in the westbound lane near Norway's southern coast.
Operations manager Knut Odde from Agder police district confirmed the incident at 7:17 PM. Police said they don't know how many passengers were onboard.
Authorities asked drivers in the area to show consideration and reduce speed when passing. All passengers remained inside the bus according to officials.
Police have now arrived at the scene with emergency lights activated. A tow truck and replacement bus have been ordered, but timing remains uncertain.
This type of mechanical failure raises questions about vehicle maintenance standards, especially for public transport carrying multiple passengers. The E18 is a major transportation artery in southern Norway, making such incidents particularly concerning for regional traffic safety.
Emergency services continue to manage the situation while investigating the cause of the wheel detachment.
