Police launched a rescue operation Thursday evening for a man in his twenties. The hiker reported himself lost between Ulriken and Fløyen mountains in Bergen.

Rescue teams faced challenging weather conditions during the search. Strong winds and low cloud cover forced the air ambulance to return to base. Officials also could not deploy drones due to the difficult weather.

Volunteers from multiple organizations joined the search effort. The Red Cross, Norwegian Rescue Dogs and Norwegian People's Aid all participated in locating the missing hiker.

The man was found safe near Rundemanen mountain around 8:30 PM. He had used another hiker's phone to contact emergency services. The two then walked together toward Fløyen to meet rescue personnel.

Rescue officials confirmed the man was not injured but wet and cold from exposure. The Vidden trail between Ulriken and Fløyen is a popular but challenging mountain route that requires proper preparation.

Mountain rescues remain common in Norway despite widespread outdoor experience. Many visitors underestimate how quickly weather can change in Norwegian mountains, even during summer months.
