A 22-year-old man was attacked Thursday evening at Mistrals Plads in Aalborg East. Police say four to five people approached the victim around 8:30 PM. The assailants first punched him in the face. Then they cut him with a knife above one ear.
The victim suffered a three to four centimeter laceration near his ear. Officials confirmed the parties involved knew each other peripherally. Police cannot yet speculate about the motive for the attack.
Officers quickly stopped a vehicle containing two suspects after the incident. The suspected perpetrators are 19 and 23 years old. Both will face constitutional hearings on Friday. They face charges of aggravated assault.
Police continue searching for additional accomplices. Authorities ask anyone with information to call 114. All individuals involved come from the Aalborg area.
Constitutional hearings in Denmark represent the first court appearance after arrest. This procedure determines whether suspects should remain in custody. The swift police response prevented the suspects from leaving the area. Violent confrontations between acquaintances remain troubling for local communities.
