A newly opened restaurant in Malmö has been stopped from serving 100 kilograms of fries after dead fly pupae were found among them, SVT reported.
The discovery was made during a food inspection in October, when Malmö's environmental administration found the 100 kilograms of fries, divided across 40 packages, stored in a freezer together with dead fly pupae. Sales of the fries were stopped.
Inspectors also found a toilet that lacked a washbasin. The restaurant told other authorities that the toilet was used by staff, but told the environmental administration that it was not. The toilet also had no door and sat next to a space where packaged food was stored.
According to the environmental administration, the 100 kilograms of fries must be discarded. Megic Streetfood has been told to document the disposal and send it to the city of Malmö, but has not yet done so.
The restaurant on Möllan in Malmö is fronted by the well-known TikTok profile Megic Mike, who has more than 1.5 million followers. SVT Nyheter Skåne has sought comment from the restaurant and from Megic Mike.
