A 65-year-old man has been remanded in custody for four weeks in a case involving incest, rape and indecency against his daughter between 2012 and 2014. The ruling was made at Randers Court, where TV 2 and TV2 Østjylland were present, according to Ekstra Bladet and Berlingske.
The hearing began at 09.30 and was held behind closed doors, so the press could not attend. The accused is also covered by a name ban, which means it is a criminal offence to publish information that could identify him. The prosecution had demanded in advance that he be remanded in custody.
The 65-year-old denies the charges.
The man was arrested on Tuesday at 10 after new information emerged in connection with the TV 2 programme "Fars lille pige", in which his three daughters appear. Police said his daughter was around 12 years old when she was allegedly subjected to sexual abuse by her father. In the programme, one daughter resumes contact with her father and secretly records him to get him to confess to the abuse.
According to TV 2, that daughter is not the injured party in the new case.
It is not the first time the man has come to police attention. In the 1990s, he was acquitted in a case in which he was accused of sexual abuse against one of his daughters, who was seven at the time. He was later reported over possible abuse against his two other minor daughters, but those cases never came to court.
Authorities received notifications from 2013 onwards about possible abuse against the girl in the new case, according to TV 2.
Defence lawyer Lasse Hummelhoff Frandsen told TV 2 that his client denies guilt, and said the man had been subjected to "a considerable pressure to confirm a specific portrayal of the past" through the hidden recordings.
