A 27-year-old man stored 56 hand grenades in a cellar in Fruängen in Stockholm, and the verdict in his case falls on Thursday, SVT reported. Prosecutor Sara Stolper is demanding nine years in prison for the man accused of extorting him.
The 27-year-old alerted police himself after taking receipt of the grenades. When police arrested him and found the grenades, the seizure led to further grenade finds in other parts of the country.
He said he took the grenades because of a growing drug debt among gang members in Foxtrot. "There was no space to even try to say no," he said.
In her closing argument, Stolper did not make as clear a demand regarding the 27-year-old. Like his lawyer, she argued that he should receive a reduced sentence because of his role in the case. She argued the reduction should be at least one third of the eight-year sentence value, which would mean at most five years and four months.
"But I have left it open in my argument that the reduction could be more than that... I have left it to the district court to decide how large the reduction should be," the prosecutor wrote in an email to SVT.
