A man was found shot in a forest near Klippan in southern Sweden. A passerby discovered the injured man and called emergency services. Paramedics transported him to hospital by urgent ambulance.
Police spokesperson Evelina Olsson confirmed the incident. "The shot man was feeding animals at the time," Olsson said in a statement. "He was transported by urgent ambulance to hospital."
Authorities have cordoned off the area for forensic investigation. Police are examining whether the shooting occurred during nearby hunting activities.
"That is one theory we are investigating," Olsson explained. "Several hunting groups were active in the area. We asked them to stop hunting and will speak with everyone involved."
Police declined to comment on the man's specific injuries or whether he was conscious when found. The urgent ambulance transport indicates serious injuries, according to officials.
Swedish authorities opened a preliminary investigation for gross negligence causing bodily harm. Hunting accidents remain relatively uncommon in Sweden despite the country's strong hunting traditions. This incident highlights the importance of strict firearm safety protocols during hunting season.
Klippan is a municipality in Skåne County, approximately 70 kilometers northeast of Malmö. The region features mixed agricultural and forest landscapes popular with hunters.
