Police in North Jutland will suspend the search for a missing 76-year-old woman overnight. Officers continue looking for Hanne, who left her home in Vognsild near Aars on Sunday and hasn't been seen since.
The police operation will resume during daylight hours. Search teams plan to check a wooded area that requires better visibility.
Martin Møller, the police duty officer, explained the decision around 8:45 PM. "We expect to finish soon today," he said. "There's a wooded area we want to check, but that will happen in daylight tomorrow. It doesn't make much sense to search there tonight."
Police believe Hanne might have sought shelter in outbuildings or similar structures. They continue asking residents to check their properties thoroughly.
Authorities urge anyone with buildings they cannot check themselves to call the police non-emergency line at 114. Officers can then visit the location to conduct a search.
The direction the woman traveled remains unknown. Police have been searching within a wide radius around Vognsild, a small community in northern Denmark.
This situation highlights the challenges of locating missing persons in rural areas, especially when weather conditions and limited daylight reduce search effectiveness. The decision to pause overnight operations reflects practical safety considerations while maintaining determination to find the missing woman.
