Police in Sandnes are searching for two men who may have witnessed a violent stabbing on a bus. A man in his thirties has been arrested and charged with aggravated bodily harm following the incident at Ruten, the main bus terminal in this southwestern Norwegian city.
Officials stated they want to contact two potential witnesses. One man was reportedly sitting at a bus stop near the Narvesen kiosk between midnight and 12:40 AM. The other was seen in the underground passage between Ruten/Coffeeberry and Sandnes Kebab around 12:35 AM.
Police attorney Amalie BrĂ¥ten Hauge said in a statement, "We wish to speak with two men who may have witnessed the violent episode on the bus, the events leading up to it, or the perpetrator leaving Ruten."
The bus terminal where this occurred serves as the main transportation hub for Sandnes, a city of approximately 80,000 people located just south of Stavanger in Norway's Rogaland county. Such violent incidents remain relatively uncommon in this typically peaceful region.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward. The quick arrest suggests authorities had clear evidence, but witness accounts could help establish the full sequence of events leading to the stabbing.
