A rescue operation succeeded despite darkness and heavy seas near Denmark's Limfjord. The Sæby rescue station responded to an emergency call around midnight on Friday.
A sailboat had run aground at the entrance to Limfjorden near Egense. The Limfjord is a major Danish waterway connecting the North Sea to the Kattegat sea.
A Home Guard vessel stood by but could not reach the stranded boat. The smaller rescue boat managed to approach the vessel safely.
Rescuers transferred one crew member and a tow line to the sailboat. The boat was then pulled free and brought to safety in Egense Harbor.
The rescue station described the successful operation in a social media update. They did not report any injuries among the crew.
This incident highlights the challenging conditions rescue teams face along Denmark's coastline. Even experienced sailors can encounter trouble in the unpredictable waters around the Limfjord entrance.
