Police completed their on-scene investigation and have opened a case. Operations leader June Strand Jensen confirmed the collision appeared to be front-to-front impact.

Road conditions were extremely slippery according to witnesses at the location. The accident caused major traffic backups with long queues forming in both directions.

Authorities initially closed the road between Stegan and SĂŠterlandet. They implemented manual traffic control around 9:00 AM before fully reopening the route.

The road has now returned to normal traffic flow. Medical officials have not disclosed the extent of injuries to those involved.

This incident highlights the challenging driving conditions that can occur on Norwegian county roads, particularly during transitional weather periods when ice can form unexpectedly.
