A high-ranking employee within the traffic administration of Region Stockholm has been detained on suspicion of gross bribery. Early Tuesday morning, police conducted raids at several locations across the greater Stockholm area. During these operations, four individuals were taken into custody. Three of them are suspected of gross acceptance of bribes, and one is suspected of grossly offering a bribe. Following initial questioning, two of the four individuals remain in pre-trial detention. One is held on probable cause for grossly giving a bribe, and the other is held on probable cause for grossly accepting a bribe. The person accused of accepting the bribe is employed by the traffic administration of Region Stockholm. This department is responsible for managing regional transportation matters. Samuel Westerlund Rashidi, the defense attorney representing the detained man, stated that his client denies committing any crime. Rashidi confirmed that his client maintains his innocence regarding the allegations of gross bribery. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not disclosed additional information about the specific circumstances, timing, or details of the alleged corrupt acts. No further arrests or charges have been announced at this time.
