Unemployment in Stockholm County has fallen by 4,600 registered people compared with the third quarter of 2025, according to a new report from Arbetsförmedlingen, the Swedish Public Employment Service, published on 29 October.
Since 2025, more people in the county have moved from unemployment into work than the other way round. Unemployment in Stockholm County averages 6.8 percent, compared with 6.5 percent for Sweden as a whole.
The report points to the importance of education in making the hiring process easier for both jobseekers and employers. "We know that a completed upper secondary education is an important prerequisite for getting a job and for the employer to be able to secure the skills needed," said Charlotte Humling, regional director of Arbetsförmedlingen i öst, in the report.
SVT has previously reported on Ahmad Haidari, who got his first job in Södertälje, the municipality with the highest unemployment. The figures and the assessment come from Arbetsförmedlingen.
