Pedestrians and cyclists can cross the Strömsund Bridge again from 1pm on Friday, Trafikverket announced on Thursday, according to SVT Jämtland, according to Aftonbladet and Expressen.
The bridge over Vattudalen in Strömsund, on the E45, has been fully closed since the end of September. It was damaged when a heavy truck drove over it on 29 September. The closure forced residents in the area to take long detours.
Up to 100 people may be on the bridge at the same time. Trafikverket will not keep count, and the limit is left to people's own responsibility.
Vehicle traffic has to wait. The current forecast is for 31 January, and several parallel repair jobs will be carried out on the bridge until then. The speed will probably be lowered on the bridge even after it reopens to vehicles.
"I want to emphasise that this is a forecast," Theresa Gellerstedt, head of department at Trafikverket, told SVT.
