A serious traffic collision occurred on County Road 87 in Målselv municipality, Northern Norway. Two vehicles were involved in the incident approximately 12 kilometers from Bardufoss.
Operations Manager Rune Nilsen from local police confirmed the situation appears serious. He stated authorities cannot yet comment on the extent of injuries.
All six people involved were out of their vehicles by 4 PM local time. An air ambulance arrived at the scene by 4:49 PM to transport three individuals to hospital.
Police have closed the road while investigators gather evidence to determine what caused the accident. Nilsen noted slippery road conditions at the location.
The Norwegian Public Roads Administration estimates the road will remain closed until 9 PM. This major route serves the Øverbygd area in Troms county.
Road closures of this duration typically indicate authorities are conducting thorough accident investigations. Icy conditions in Northern Norway frequently contribute to winter traffic incidents despite driver precautions.
