Swedish National Grid Investigates Major Hacker Attack

Sweden's national power grid operator is investigating a serious cyberattack. A hacker group claims it struck Svenska kraftnät over the weekend.

The attack reportedly occurred on Saturday evening. The hackers allege they stole 280 GB of sensitive data from the state-owned company.

Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) has joined the investigation. MSB coordinates Sweden's emergency preparedness and response to serious crises.

Erik Nordman, security chief at Svenska kraftnät, confirmed the situation. "We know about the hacker group's claims and take this very seriously," Nordman said in a statement. "We are now investigating these reports closely and taking relevant measures."

The breach raises concerns about critical infrastructure security. Sweden's power grid represents one of the nation's most vital systems.

Cyberattacks on energy infrastructure have increased globally in recent years. This incident follows similar attacks on European energy companies.

Authorities have not confirmed what specific data was accessed. The investigation will determine the full scope of the security breach.

Swedish energy security remains stable despite the cyber intrusion. Grid operations continue normally while investigators work to assess the damage.
