Two teenage boys face charges for robbing a 19-year-old man at gunpoint in Haslev. The incident occurred around 1 AM Saturday morning in the Danish town located 60 kilometers southwest of Copenhagen.
Police arrested the suspects hours later in nearby Næstved. The teenagers, aged 16 and 17, allegedly threatened the victim with a handgun before stealing his car and phone.
Morten Kronbo, the police operations chief, confirmed the arrests. "They were detained later that night in Næstved, which isn't far from Haslev," he said in a statement.
Authorities haven't determined whether the weapon was real or fake. The young men face formal robbery charges and will appear in court for a custody hearing.
Prosecutors are expected to request the teens remain in detention while the investigation continues. The suspects haven't yet stated their position on the allegations.
This case highlights concerning youth crime patterns in provincial Danish communities. While violent robberies remain relatively rare in Denmark's smaller towns, this incident shows even peaceful areas aren't immune to serious crime.
