Multiple Telia customers in Møre og Romsdal county are experiencing disruptions to 4G and 5G mobile services. The telecommunications company confirmed it is working to fix a technical fault affecting their network coverage.
Police reports indicate several municipalities are particularly affected. These include Ørsta, Sula, Ulstein, Herøy, Sande, Vanylven, Sykkylven and Volda. These communities are located along Norway's western coastline, known for its fjords and coastal islands.
Authorities provided guidance for emergency communications during the outage. They confirmed that emergency calls can still be made through any mobile operator with available coverage. Police also noted that most smartphones can make calls over WiFi if broadband connections remain functional.
Telia has not specified when full service will be restored. The company faces increasing pressure to resolve the issue quickly as mobile networks become essential for daily life and emergency communications.
Network reliability remains a challenge in Norway's coastal regions where geography can complicate telecommunications infrastructure. This outage highlights the vulnerability of modern communication systems even in developed Nordic countries.
