A female train conductor was assaulted Wednesday morning while her train was stopped at Frederikshavn Station. The incident occurred around 10 AM on October 29.
Police said a 42-year-old man attacked the conductor after being caught without a valid ticket. He reportedly struck her with a bottle and his hand.
The victim did not sustain serious injuries but was shaken by the assault. Many passengers witnessed the violent episode.
Officers identified the suspect Monday and arrested him Tuesday at 12:32 PM in Hadsund. The man has loose connections to Frederikshavn and was previously known to police for similar offenses.
He faces charges under section 119 of the penal code for violence against a public official. Police are requesting he remain in custody until his constitutional hearing Wednesday at 11 AM.
This attack highlights the risks public transport workers face during routine ticket inspections. Assaults on service staff remain a concerning problem across the Nordic transport sector.
