Multiple serious crashes have struck Stockholm’s busy Essingeleden highway, causing major disruptions on the E4 southbound. Three vehicles collided near Midsommarkransen. Another two-car crash happened around Kristineberg. A third accident involving a truck and a passenger car occurred farther south near Fittja on the northbound E4. These incidents have created what authorities describe as a “very” impact on traffic flow through one of Sweden’s most vital roadways. Three people were rushed to hospital by ambulance, according to Region Stockholm. One of them is reported to be seriously injured. Ola Österling, press spokesperson for the Stockholm police, described the situation as “troublesome” and confirmed the severity of the congestion. Drivers heading south through central Stockholm faced long delays during peak hours, with no quick resolution in sight. The Swedish Transport Administration, Trafikverket, confirmed all three collisions and emphasized their combined effect on regional travel. With Essingeleden serving as a key artery through the capital, even minor incidents can ripple across the city’s commute patterns. Today’s triple collision has left many rethinking their routes and reminded locals just how fragile smooth traffic flow can be in Sweden’s largest urban center.
