A violent brawl broke out at a McDonald's restaurant in central Gothenburg late Wednesday night. Approximately ten people were involved in the confrontation on Kungsportsavenyn, a major boulevard known for its nightlife.
Two individuals reportedly sustained kick injuries during the fight. Police were alerted to the fast-food chain shortly before 4 AM.
Several people attempted to flee the scene as officers arrived. Police stopped and identified all fleeing individuals.
Officers checked identification documents for about a dozen people involved. All remained largely silent about what triggered the violent incident.
Police spokesperson Johan HÄkansson said investigators hope parts of the incident were captured on surveillance footage. The case is being investigated as assault.
This isn't the first time violence has occurred in Gothenburg's entertainment districts after hours. The incident raises questions about security measures at late-night establishments.
