A garage fire spread to a nearby house in Märsta, north of Stockholm, on Tuesday evening. Emergency services reported the blaze was fully developed in its early stages. The fire created a significant risk of spreading further through the residential area.
All residents evacuated the property safely before firefighters arrived. Rescue teams worked quickly to contain the flames.
Magnus Åkervik, team leader at SOS Alarm, confirmed the house was empty. Firefighters made good progress by 7:15 PM and reduced the spread risk.
Lovisa Axelius from Mitt Rescue Service said crews extinguished the initial fire. Police officers also attended the scene to investigate the cause.
Authorities spoke with neighbors as part of their investigation. They do not currently suspect any criminal activity behind the blaze.
By 9:00 PM, rescue services began leaving the location. They reported damage to the house's facade and the carport where the fire originated.
This incident highlights how quickly fires can spread between structures in residential neighborhoods. Proper fire safety measures become especially important in attached garages and carports.
