Firefighters extinguished a residential blaze in Helsinki's Ullanlinna district early Saturday morning. The Helsinki Rescue Department responded to Tarkk'ampujankatu 12 around 3 AM. Eight rescue units worked at the scene.
The fire was contained to one room in the apartment. It did not spread to neighboring units. No injuries were reported during the incident.
Rescue crews extinguished the flames and ventilated the premises. Police are now investigating the cause of the fire. The rescue department declined to comment on ignition sources.
Officials described the situation as routine despite the early morning response. "Nothing earth-shattering here," rescue personnel commented around 5 AM.
Ullanlinna is a historic central Helsinki neighborhood known for its Art Nouveau architecture. The area features many early 20th century residential buildings close to city amenities.
The quick containment prevented what could have been a more serious incident in the dense urban neighborhood. Early morning fires often pose higher risks when residents are sleeping.
