Multiple Cars Crash and Overturn on Swedish Highway

Two cars collided on Highway 70 just north of Sala, near the intersection with County Road 765. Both vehicles overturned and landed upside down in a field according to police reports. One car burst into flames following the impact.

Passersby managed to rescue the driver from the burning vehicle. Magnus Jansson Klarin, police press spokesperson for the Central Region, confirmed the challenging extraction. He said the driver had some difficulty getting out of the wreckage.

Two people were involved in the accident total. One driver was transported to hospital by ambulance. The person remains conscious and able to speak, though the extent of injuries remains unclear.

The scene was quite dramatic according to Jansson Klarin. Emergency services, ambulances, and multiple police patrols responded to the incident.

The road between Sala and Avesta was closed in both directions temporarily. Traffic is now being released alternately as cleanup continues. Jansson Klarin expressed hope that traffic would flow smoothly soon, noting that recovery operations might cause some delays.

No criminal suspicion has emerged at this time. The crash occurred on a major Swedish highway connecting central Sweden, highlighting the importance of road safety on these vital transport routes.

This incident serves as another reminder of how quickly routine travel can turn dangerous, even on well-maintained Nordic roads where winter conditions often get the most attention for driving hazards.
