Police in Northern Norway confirmed a teenage boy was found dead in the water Saturday morning. The minor had been reported missing after attending a Halloween party for youth aged 16 to 18.
Officers launched an extensive search overnight in Mosjøen, a town in Nordland county. The operation involved checking multiple addresses and areas throughout the community.
Family members alerted authorities when the boy failed to return home at the agreed time. He had last been seen at the Halloween party on Friday evening.
"It is too early to say what happened. We are investigating broadly and trying to piece together events leading up to this," the operations leader said in a statement. Police do not currently suspect criminal activity.
Volunteer rescue teams joined the search effort Saturday morning. A member of the public ultimately spotted the body in the water and notified authorities.
Local crisis response teams are now supporting the family. Police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
This tragic incident highlights the risks young people face during seasonal celebrations, particularly in communities near water. The timing during Halloween festivities adds another layer of concern for parents and community leaders.
