A personal car was stolen from a private home driveway in Oulu's Juurussuo district on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 PM. Police patrols arriving at the scene spotted the vehicle partially submerged in a ditch just a few hundred meters from the crime location.
The stolen car was later found abandoned along a difficult-to-access road path. A police dog unit began tracking the individuals who had fled the area.
The tracking operation produced results with two suspects apprehended from a forested area after a considerable distance. Police discovered stolen property from the house in their possession along with a small quantity of drugs and explosives.
Both suspects now face allegations of theft, motor vehicle theft, explosives offenses, and drug crimes. The investigation continues as police work to clarify all details of the case.
This incident demonstrates how police dogs remain crucial tools for Finnish law enforcement in tracking suspects through challenging terrain. The quick recovery of both suspects and evidence shows the effectiveness of coordinated police response in rural Nordic communities.
