Police responded to a preschool in Norrköping after staff discovered a suspicious object on the property. Officers secured the item, which resembled a weapon, during the Wednesday morning incident.
The discovery occurred outdoors in the preschool's yard. Authorities confirmed they did not establish security perimeters or call bomb disposal units.
Police spokesperson Mats Pettersson described the situation as undramatic. "We had no cordons and national bomb protection was not involved," Pettersson stated. "We always call them if we suspect an object is dangerous."
Investigators will now examine the object to determine its exact nature. The preschool is located in eastern Sweden's Norrköping, a city of approximately 140,000 residents.
While such discoveries understandably cause concern, the police response suggests they didn't consider this an immediate threat. The measured approach indicates either a non-weapon or an obviously inert device.
Parents and staff will likely seek reassurance about security protocols following this incident. Local authorities typically review safety procedures after any security scare at educational facilities.
