Police are asking the public for information about a serious robbery that occurred in Espoo on Monday morning. The incident took place in Kuitinmäki just before 10 AM. According to initial reports, the suspect threatened a kiosk employee with a weapon at the Kuunkehrä location. The individual managed to steal cash during the robbery.
Several customers were inside the kiosk at the time of the incident. No one was injured during the robbery, according to police statements.
The suspect fled the scene before police patrols arrived. Witnesses reported seeing the person leave toward Kuutamokatu street. Officers conducted a search of the area but could not locate the suspect.
Police have released a description of the wanted individual. The person was wearing sunglasses, a black jacket and pants, plus a furry hat. They had red and white shoes and carried a black bag.
This type of daylight robbery in a residential area suggests growing boldness among criminals operating in the Helsinki metropolitan region. The fact that the robber threatened employees while customers were present shows particular disregard for public safety.
