A drunk driver lost control of a van and crashed into trees in Muhos, Finland on Monday evening. Police report both the driver and passenger sustained injuries in the accident.
The van had been traveling at high speed when it overtook another vehicle around 7:30 PM. The driver then lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and collide with trees along Kylmälänkyläntie road.
Police administered a breathalyzer test that showed alcohol levels exceeding Finland's limit for aggravated drunk driving. Authorities confirmed the driver lacked a valid license to operate any vehicle.
Emergency services transported both individuals to medical facilities for treatment. Police have not released details about the extent of their injuries.
The incident occurred on Kylmälänkyläntie road in the village of Kylmälä, located in the Muhos municipality of Northern Ostrobothnia region. This area features typical Finnish countryside with forest-lined roads.
Police are investigating the driver for aggravated drunk driving, serious endangerment of traffic safety, and driving without authorization.
This case highlights how multiple traffic violations often occur together, creating extreme danger on public roads. The combination of intoxication and unlicensed driving represents a severe disregard for public safety.
