A fire ignited at the ABC Hirvaskangas gas station early Wednesday morning. The rescue service reported that a dryer and washing machine burned for unknown reasons inside the facility.
The fire remained contained within the laundry room and did not spread to other areas. Smoke had dispersed widely throughout the property, reaching the store section.
Six people were present on the premises when the incident occurred. No injuries resulted from the fire.
The building fire alarm activated around 5 AM at the Äänekoski location. Rescue crews successfully extinguished the initial blaze. Cleanup operations were underway by 6 AM to address smoke and water damage.
While the cause remains undetermined, the incident highlights how routine equipment can suddenly create dangerous situations. The quick containment prevented what could have become a much more serious emergency at this central Finland service station.
