A chain-reaction collision occurred in Kokkola this afternoon. Two cars crashed near the Pohjanlahdentie and Vitikanpolun intersection around 4 PM.

Three people were involved in the traffic incident. All were transported to hospital by ambulance.

Emergency services responded to what they classified as a medium-sized road accident. Four rescue units were dispatched to the scene.

Rescue Chief Joakim Toivio provided an update on the victims' conditions. "Everyone walked to the ambulance," Toivio said in a statement. "There were no apparent serious injuries based on initial observations."

An eyewitness reported that one of the vehicles ended up in a ditch following the impact.

Road conditions have mostly returned to normal according to officials. All emergency units have now left the accident site.

Police are investigating what caused the collision in Western Finland's coastal city.

This incident highlights the importance of road safety even in smaller Finnish cities. While initial reports suggest no life-threatening injuries, such accidents disrupt traffic and require substantial emergency response resources.
