Emergency services are battling a large industrial fire in Pirkkala, Finland. The blaze broke out at an industrial facility along Turkintie road.
Witness Juho Penttinen described seeing flames shooting high from windows on both sides of the building. He reported seeing a delivery van also engulfed in flames in the yard.
"The industrial hall was half on fire completely," Penttinen said. "I heard some small bangs as I drove past."
Police arrived to block the road while an ambulance stood by at the scene. The dramatic fire attracted numerous spectators to the area.
Penttinen noted about ten cars parked nearby and people watching from the roadside. Everyone wondered what was happening, he said.
Rescue services dispatched 21 units to the scene after the initial alert at 4:43 PM. Officials have not provided details about the cause or potential injuries.
The scale of the response suggests this is a serious incident requiring substantial resources. Industrial fires often pose unique challenges due to potentially hazardous materials and complex building structures.
