Police in Borås, Sweden received multiple calls about a suspicious object in a residential area this morning. Authorities issued a public warning and urged residents to avoid the location.
Officers quickly arrived at the scene and cordoned off a large area around the building. The national bomb squad was called to investigate the suspicious item.
Police spokesperson Jennifer Last said witnesses reported seeing a person leave an object in a stairwell leading to a laundry room around 7 AM. The incident caused significant disruption in the neighborhood.
"We urge the public to respect the police cordons," Last stated. "They are there for a reason."
By 10 AM, bomb technicians confirmed the object posed no danger. Police determined the item was not explosive and lifted all security measures.
This incident highlights how quickly Swedish authorities respond to potential threats, even when they turn out to be harmless. The substantial police deployment shows their commitment to public safety, though it ultimately proved unnecessary in this case.
